About

Prof. Dattatraya Dethe completed his doctoral research at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2005, followed by Post-Doctoral Research (2005–2008) at ICES, Singapore under the supervision of Prof. K. C. Nicolaou. He subsequently joined Albany Molecular Research Inc. (AMRI), Singapore as a Senior Research Scientist in 2008. In 2009, he moved to the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune as an Assistant Professor, and later joined the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2011, where he currently serves as Professor of Chemistry.

Prof. Dethe’s research has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the CSIR Young Scientist Award (2011), OPPI Young Scientist Award (2011), Young Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences (2011–2014), AVRA Young Scientist Award (2014), CRSI Bronze Medal (2020), and the C. N. R. Rao National Prize for Chemical Sciences (2024). He is also a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).

His broad research interests lie in Organic Synthesis, Natural Product Synthesis, Transition Metal Catalysis, and Asymmetric Synthesis.
